We would like to welcome a new member to the DF team, Oscar Frith-Macdonald.
Oscar’s got a unique background, plus a unique dress sense, by the looks of the following photo. He likes a bit of unicycling, juggling, and stilt walking, and actually did a 240km charity cycle on a unicycle…
These highjinks aren’t entirely unique at Digital Fusion — we have one other developer that has a background with the circus (it must be a FileMaker thing)! …so if AI ever takes over our jobs we have a plan B.
Oscar comes to us all the way from the UK, where he was born in London but moved to Cornwall when he was young. His connection to New Zealand started with that move to Cornwall when his parents almost decided on NZ instead, so when he got the chance to study abroad for a year he jumped at the chance to see us down here — well, Wellington specifically.
The draw of NZ was too much and he returned last year, picking Christchurch as his new home this time round.
Oscar has a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Those skills landed him with a very interesting first job in the UK, developing software for the conversion of old luxury cars to electric power at Lunaz Design.
Outside of work, Oscar and his partner are adventure nuts, which is possibly why they picked Christchurch which is on the doorstep to all sorts of outdoor activities — they’re into hiking, rock climbing, and getting out amongst the best NZ has to offer.
We welcome Oscar to the team, and look forward to plenty of banter when NZ and Australia take on the English in cricket or rugby.
